Top 5 Free Gifts for the Nursing Babe-to-Be | Best for Babes

One of the best things about breastfeeding is that when all goes right, and especially if you don’t have to return to work, it can be totally free — extras are optional. So when you have a friend who is expecting who plans on breastfeeding, she definitely needs your support and help preparing. However, this doesn’t have to come in the form of purchases, and in fact, it’s some of the things you can give her for free that will make the biggest difference.

Are you that person to your breastfeeding moms?

The Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog: The only mammal at the zoo who can’t nurse in public

This sounds like another case of an employee who feel asleep during training, and the zoo’s response seems appropriate.

But if a human mother and baby were in a zoo exhibit, how would the accompanying sign explain why we’re the only mammal who is told to cover up when we feed our babies?

Our Country’s Lactation Intolerance

A month ago a breastfeeding doll from Europe made a controversial splash in the U.S., erroneously accused of “sexualizing” children. A week ago the CDC issued a report that hospitals don’t support nursing mothers. And yesterday, a teacher in Colorado claimed she was fired for pumping on the job.

Our medical institutions are in agreement that breastfeeding provides significant health benefits to babies and mothers. So, why are hospitals and employers reluctant to give the support required? And why does the Breast Milk Baby render everyone apoplectic with embarrassment?

Come on, America. Are we that hopelessly bound to the contorted psychology of our Puritan ancestors? The only reason this doll is accused of sexualizing children is because we can’t unsexualize the breast.
