The Human Milk Banking Association of America has approved the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Mississippi application. We are on the map! http://www.hmbana.org/index/locations/ The pink mark in Mississippi indicates the application has been approved and the milk bank is a work in progress. This is exciting news for our state! The milk bank is not ready to accept donor milk yet, but I know they will keep us informed of their progress. Currently, five hospitals in Jackson are purchasing donor breastmilk from one of two milk banks in Texas. Hospitals in Hattiesburg and Gulfport are also considering the use of donor milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or pump.
