Public Citizen: Public Citizen has taken the AAP resolution to divest from formula marketing in the office/clinic and run with it. They have issued an email asking OB/Peds/Family Practice offices to pledge not to provide free formula marketing. Public Citizen’s email is copied below, with a link where providers can go to sign the pledge. A fact sheet is also included, addressing questions about the relationship between formula samples and decrease in breastfeeding rates, etc. Although the initiative is aimed at physicians, we are asking that anyone who has a good relationships with MD providers help to get the initiative into the hands of those providers and get them discussing it in their offices and maybe committing to the pledge.
If you would like to sign onto the pledge, please do so online at http://action.citizen.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=10893
For further information on this issue, please see our fact sheet: http://www.citizen.org/infant-formula-marketing-clinics
