Similac has come out with a new “service for mothers” – a hotline offering “support from a lactation consultant”. They are trying to get hospitals to give out advertising and magnets with the number to call for this “help”. Is this their replacement for their formula sample bags?
Here’s the website – note the reference to the “stress of breastfeeding” in the question about return to work -

Thanks for sharing this news so we can beware!
Have you heard that Abbott has partnered with Prolacta for marketing?
Check out the Prolacta website…We had the Prolacta rep in this week to
talk about human milk-based human milk fortifier (H2MF), which is a
great product for a very specific/limited sub-population of NICU babies,
but they do some weird things when they talk about their clinical trial,
as justification for the enormous cost. Listen closely and think! I find
it interesting that some of the sites that participated in the clinical
trial are not convinced that the product is efficacious, either
clinically or economically.
I specifically asked her what Prolacta gets as benefit from this
partnership and she responded it is that Abbott will help them market
their product because those “reps are in the hospitals weekly”…though
“they do not know anything about the Prolacta products”….and that
Abbott is “helping design marketing materials for Prolacta.”
Ugh!
