Looking to learn more about breastmilk and it’s components as well as methods to increase a premature infant’s growth potential while receiving maternal breastmilk?
Pamela K. Murphy, PhD, CNM, IBCLC pulled her colleagues together to educate health care professionals about these topics. Dr. Murphy is a lactation consultant at the Medical University of South Carolina and provides lactation guidance for mothers who give birth to infants born as early as 24 weeks gestation. These mothers are encouraged to provide their own breastmilk to their infants due to the numerous protective benefits it offers. Dr. Murphy collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers to establish and maintain maternal milk supply while supporting the preterm infant’s growth needs.
The Lactation Conference for Health Care Professionals offered in Charlotte, NC on September 12, 2011, features neonatologists, Carol Wagner, MD and Sarah Taylor, MD speaking about:
