Call to Action: New Perspectives in Human Lactation

The 2012 International Lactation Consultant Association Conference, Call to Action: New Perspectives in Human Lactation, is being held at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida USA from July 25-29, 2012. This five-day conference combines research and practice presentations with clinical and research skill development.

The ILCA annual conference showcases speakers with exceptional expertise, and presentation skills in order to provide quality information to attendees. ILCA’s Call for Proposals provides an opportunity for ILCA members and others in the maternal/child health community to submit presentation proposals to share their insights, expertise and research with colleagues.

Submissions for Presenting at the 2012 ILCA Conference

The Speaker Submission site for abstracts will remain open from September 8 to October 10, 2011, at which time the Conference Program and Research Committees will begin their review of proposals. Submitters will receive notification via email by November 6 as to whether their work has been selected for presentation. Selected speakers must confirm participation by November 20. If you have not received email notification by this date please contact Amanda Joslin at amanda@ilca.org.

Please review the submission guidelines before you submit your proposal to ensure that you meet the requirements and accept the parameters. Accepted presenters are required to comply with all presentation guidelines. Abstracts will be accepted for the following presentation formats and categories.

Submission Formats:

• Concurrent conference session presentation (50 minutes + 10 minutes for Q&A)
• Workshop presentation (2, 3 or 6 hours)
• Research abstract (may also be accepted for oral presentation)
• Project poster

• Clinical practice case studies
• Antenatal, postpartum and pediatric care
• High risk and special care infants
• Policy and promotion
• Public health and advocacy
• Ethical and legal issues
• Professional development
• Counseling and communication
• Research/evidence-based practice
• Worksite support
• Low income, high risk mothers
• Spanish presentation
